So i just encountered something interesting. There was this young African American student from Harbor college who knocked on my door wanted to solicit his delivery services to me. For only 10 dollars he would deliver 10 sun latimes papers for ten weeks.. well already i decided i wasn't interested although he insisted i listen to his spiel. So I listen and when I still refused he couldn't fathom why i wouldn't help him. My reasoning.. b/c I didn't want to and b/c I've had this issue with non-delivery of papers to my house before.. well needless to say he was very upset with me...I think in his mind he took away whatever kind of blessing he thought he could bestow on me.. sorry guy.. it doesn't work that way.... so in the 15 mins since shutting the door, mind starting whirling.
Are we always only kind of willing to say "You'd be blest" if we get something in return. Do we...I pray for people to be blessed. Do we know if we are to give up of our money or time we will receive the blessing the other party...or is this something to get what they want. All cynicism aside i think though in refusing this young man of his so gracious offer of the latimes, i will not lack in future blessings..so why do people do that... make you feel as if you need them to feel blessed... hey i blessed because I woke up to day and I was healthy enough to finish a race and spend time with my mom and cook and eat food my God so richly provided.. so i think i'd like to find this young man and offer to what could really bless him... the very free gift of salvation... i'll look and see if he's interested...
