Well this past weekend was fun visiting the O'roarks in Santa Maria. Amy and i went up on Friday night and well she pegged it. I heart the predictablity of the O'roarks. It was good catching up wtih them.. and then the fun began. Saturday morning we went to Bittercreek to ride the mini trains. Oh what fun!!!! Kevin took me down and as we were going to pick up Amy and Dini we got derailed. Dang water hose. Poor Kevin his first derailment. So Dini came down and helped put the train back on the rail. After that the merriment continued. It was so fun and relaxing riding I can see why Kevin loves it. I almost fell asleep. After trains we went to Pismo Beach. We walked along the pier stood and watched surfers for a while. We especially enjoyed this semi-nude older gentleman body surfing with his fins. He caught some good waves. After that-- food. Stopped off at the shop ate a choco covered crickett and worm-- sad b/c more choco than bug... I really wanted to taste the grittiness of the bug and little squishy guts would be nice. At well. Next up yum clam chowder.-- Best part about this was being able to use Kevin's senior discount. He was super excited about that. Next up-- sad times.. we got a ticket. No more Pismo trips with the likes of us. Sorry Kevin and Dini. Then we went and I bought some flips.. oh and we went to Pancho's before hand. Cool but expensive stuff in there. After pismo off to San Luis Obispo-- or at the natives call it SLO. Anywho we walked around the quaint town and Kevin was giving his history speil about the mission and the creek and all the crazy shananagans of the creek and locals. Then we walked and found bubble gum alley... that was pretty gross. Amy and I made our mark...adding to the wall. I put mine by a pic of my fav character- Charlie brown.. amy searched for a spot w/o gum-she found one but I think the spot was really just dried out gum. the tour continues-- or the hunt rather for yummy bread. We asked a few locals but couldn't find the bread... we did however find where susie works-- went to her express but she was apparently at home napping... sad times again. Next up Beverly's-- OMG my new fav arts and crafts store.. it has everything-- and mucho of everything. Thanks Dini for the intro. More walking and visiting quaint shops. Fell in love with another local artisan shop. Found where chris got his eject button...tempted to get the crap and oh shhh button but didn't. Left the cute town and headed back home. We were all ready for a nap and hung out. I heart talking to the Kevin and Dini. love their stories. So tick tock tick tock.. hmmm hungry-- Astrid says yes always. After consuming more taffy than ever before-- dini's addiction.. we head off to orrcutt burger.. OMG--goodness beefy beefy OMC-- oh my cow for those who don't speak leilani. I had the pstrami chesse burger-- and shared zuccchi fries con Kevin.. Man that was a whole lotta goodness. It's still sitting there weighing me down.. too bad I don't have Ellie's metabolism-- definitely can't eat there everyday. If that meal doesn't ensure sleep I don't know what does... so back to the casa. Chillin-- then sequence-- fun kevin and I partners-- amy and dini victorious--
Sleep.... next day-- it's the big train ride. I was soooooooo excited to go on a big train. We got there just as they were boarding the first ride. Sweet It was so fun hanging out on I believe it's called the vestibule of the train... cool tour via kevin of course-- you can't help get excited about trians when he's talking. Kevin really makes trains fun. So saw all the neat rooms-- amy, dini, and i decided leilani would be a traveling pianst.. dressed in saloon wear.. think about it leilani.. smelled some broccholi.. wanted to go on a longer ride-- next time dinner service con adam. got back to a yummy bbq and bought a conductor's hat.. all aboard!!!! Trains are so fun
Definitely glad to know the prez of the Friends of Santa Maria Valley RR. All the people were so nice- and the tour of what was once Betteravia-- pretty fun--- can't wait to see what develops.. will keep up with these train nuts. hope yall enjoyed the wknd recap. pics to come after I get them developed.. oh and this was officially emorie's last photogrphic trip.. on the search and save for a digital cam-- grrr conformity... but thousands of more pics.
Oh and the trip home was great. God provided us with a divine detour and we found future camping grounds at Las Casitas Lake. Beautiful mountains.
