So this past weekend went to Santa Maria to ride on the big train. YAY!!! Loved it. Drove up on Friday with Amy and Leilani and boy was that fun. Poor Amy couldn't get a lick of sleep and all Leilani wanted to do was sleep. Well three and a half hours later leaving the yucky city limits and entering the beautiful countryside of Santa Maria--we settled in for a long winter's nap. Not really. We did what we do best. We searched for food. Kevin and Dini greeted us. So cute. Then Tuta and Israel came later after the fun mission's trip(er visiting Cali missions- though maybe they saw some Santa Barbarians who needed Jesus and did a little evangelizing. That would have been cool. Dinner was delish. Went to a new joint called Ambrosia. Yay!! Yummy food. Talapia was very good. Calm chowder also good, though I was a little to fickle and was a problem for the nice waitress. Ah well it's what I do. So after we stuffed ourselves we went back and awaited my roomie to ride in. Then Sleep.. Well not if you were with me and Leilani--it was chatter and laughing and more gabbing and then sleep.
Good morning Santa Maria... amy texts ready to run
Leilani and I turn to each other in a who's who kind of banter and look at each other and ask
Are you running?- Astrid Are you running? --Leilani Are you? Astrid- Are you? --Leilani for a good two minutes and then we finally stir and decide we'll walk, not run.
Then finally the main dish. It's train time. Everyone else shows up.. O'roark, Wess, Adam, Joel, Hannah, and more. We all wait for the shindig to get started and as we wait the cutest little pig comes by and Leilani well is typical Leilani-- she squeals in excitment over the pig. It was adorable. Will add pics later. So finally onto buisness-- Super fun slide show a la Jamie. I'm so learned thanks to all his research. I'm pretty excited about the prospect of making a Chapel Everything that moves. Chapel boat, chapel plane, chapel RV, chapel trolley, chapel bus, chapel lady vic..-- so the last one has select seating but hey enough for the pastor as I drive and three unbelievers.. we're good to go.. if we stop we could do a side service and have some seating in lady vic's trunk for those in need of shade... :=)
Train time.... All aboard La Condessa. We start off a little rocky well if you're standing while singing and playing guitar.. the rest of us are just fine. Then a few words from our Pastor. Hebrews 6: God's promise to us. The redemptive story of love through the sacrifice of his son our Lord and savior Jesus. God said hey that's all a part of my plan, because I am who I am. History states you were mine. Christ was always the plan. Glory is magnified through his act of redeeming you from your deserved death. (super condensed version)
I must admit it was a little hard to concentrate because I wanted to watch the pretty quaint little scenery passing us by. Then yum-o food again. Yeah yummy sandwiches and potato salad and topping it off with local strawberries.. Content... and that was my weekend. Can't wait to go back and this time I'm not forgetting the strawberries. Ride back was fun with Adam. Great conversation.. No radio just the way I like it.
